The transformation from rough parcel to finished product is always mesmerising. We recently cut a beautiful parcel of Black Opal from one of our miner colleagues, and managed to photograph the transformation.
Starting with this piece, rubbed and sliced into shape. Nice dark potch too.
Not the thickest of a colour bar to work with…
But look at that colour and pattern appearing!
And the rest of the parcel nearly ready to be finished off (there’s a nice oval stone with hints of red just wanting to bust through)…
And voila! The finished products (still on dop sticks). They do make for an amazing bouquet.
And look! That red/orange in the oval stone (down the bottom) did come through!
